I decided to drop back into the newsletter space again. Forgive my absence.
Absolute vulnerability for you. I was so reluctant to get back in synch with my newsletters simply because of my own shortcomings around sitting down and actually reading the very newsletters I have signed up to receive. Perhaps it is the hustle and bustle of the day that keeps me from opening my personal email and sorting through the few newsletters I subscribe to, or maybe what I am seeing is just no longer enticing.
The newsletters I used to receive had become more frustrating than fulfilling. I wasn’t interested in reading about how magical this person’s life is since she quit her corporate gig, or how that person scores millions of dollars working from home. I wanted to read the real truth about the pain points of entrepreneurship coupled with how these lovely gals were managing to positively influence the world around them.
I was seeing less about giving back, and more about personal accomplishments and perfect lives. I could no longer relate to them; not because my life wasn’t going right or because I didn’t feel similar things, but because the newsletters were not focused on anything that was worth my time. I wanted more strategies, tips, and realistic views of the exhaustion that comes behind leadership. You know…the real, the raw, and the tough of it.
When I think of the word leadership, I no longer think of the big corporate title or fancy office. I think about leadership as a lifestyle more than just a role; and that includes the over-arching demand this fancy little word makes on each and every one of us. We are all leaders. We were all born to lead in some form or fashion, and because of that, we must take charge of our role in the lives we have been blessed to love and nurture. We need to tackle our day, our responsibilities, and everything in between with top-notch commitment, passion, desire, and dedication. Are you with me?
Our lives aren’t easy. Yes, we have worked hard in life so that now our lives may appear to be easier than others, but for me, easy actually can mean tough. Seriously, Kristin? Yes! When God gives you the legroom and the blessings to be able to navigate a little more freely, it comes with massive responsibility. He is allowing this room and accomplishment in your life not to brag, but to serve. We must stay alert and focused to see what he has provided for us so we can steward this newly aquired time, money, or opportunity wisely. I was reminded of this when I was fighting with myself about sitting down and writing newsletters again. I was absolutely convicted because it wasn’t about me. It wasn’t about what others were writing that was no longer serving me. It was about my ability to benefit and influence others. It was about conveying my hard-earned knowledge and experience to inspire, teach, and show the way.
You will not get the typical newsletter approach from me. I do not need to convince you how blessed I am or what my life looks like, because that is not my purpose. My purpose is to share what I have learned along the way, to offer some coaching perspectives, to connect with you, and to graciously welcome you into my circle.
I am here now. I am ready and willing to honor this level of leadership that God is challenging me to undertake. Before I close, may I remind you of your own responsibility to leadership in your life? No matter where your life is at this very moment, you have the ability and the resources to take a step toward where you already know you should be heading. I am not here to tell you anything you do not already know, but I will hold you accountable. I will coach you. I will not let you off the hook, and I promise to take you under my wing.
One step you can take right now is to check out my Podcast, Live to Lead. When you tune in, you will find inspirational stories and some pretty fantastic interviews with some of today’s outstanding leaders. I would love for you to join me!
Until next time…
Forward we go,
